Because He has called.
It's not just the Great Commission.
It's your Life's commission
Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Or to Europe.
Or to Mexico.
Or to the impoverished.
Or to the orphanages.
But He is calling you.
And He has commissioned you.
And you are a witness to His word.
Are you witnessing?
Jesus calls us.
And when we answer,
and when we make disciples,
and when we baptize in His name,
and when we teach them to obey what He has commanded,
then, truly, He is with us.
Even to the very end of the age.
[this video gets at our mission and commission]
Isaiah 61
[The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.]
